The Meadows is fictional post-war estate in mixed urban and rural local authority of Hertcestershire County Council. Comprising of a number areas which are in the top 10% of the IMD (Index of Multiple Deprivation) and getting worse. The local car factory was traditionally the primary employer of non-skilled labour and this closed down 11 years ago. Levels of anti-social behaviour are rising and school attainment levels are dropping with only one in six school leavers going into post 16 education. Families are fracturing and there is the threat of community tensions being directed at the new gypsy and travellers site planned for the area. New ways of working togetherPartners must find new ways of working together to improve things. This is an training exercise built around a realistic scenario where participants have the opportunity to secure a better future for local residents on the Meadows Estate – a fictional yet realistic scenario where teams act as local neighbourhood management units including a range of partners and community representatives who have to improve local outcomes for people whilst not being distracted by other opportunities or defeated by limited resources! This can be adapted to your own organisation or to your local partnership
